Menopause is not a disease but a natural event in every woman’s life that can be managed perfectly naturally. The falling levels of oestrogen and other hormones experienced at this time are associated with hot flushes, night sweats, disturbed sleep and a variety of other symptoms including vaginal dryness, an increased risk of osteoporosis and heart disease.

Hormone replacement therapy, HRT, which has been so popular for the last 30 years, has not brought the lasting benefits that were hoped. It is now recommended that treatment is limited because of the increased risk of breast cancer and thrombosis in HRT users. Relatively recent guidelines from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology have been introduced which curb the previous enthusiasm for HRT use.

The NHAS menopause programme managed to wean over 94% of women off HRT without experiencing any symptoms. As well as helping to control the symptoms of the menopause, the NHAS programme helps to protect our hearts, bones and memory in the long term.
Many of our menopausal women are referred to us by their GP.

As a natural health practitioner and women’s health adviser I believe in menopause self help, through consultation, diet and the use of scientifically proven supplements.

Rosanna’s Story – Menopause Self Help

Rosanna was 36 when she first saw Maryon. She had 2 young children and owned a hairdressing salon. She was experiencing a whole series of unpleasant symptoms following a hysterectomy a few years before, and felt like she had lost her grip on life. She recovered quickly from the operation but 4 years later she started to suffer from severely sore breasts, headaches, depression, irrational mood swings and night sweats. She felt desperate, confused and frightened. An unsympathetic GP prescribed various HRT treatments which helped with some symptoms but made others worse. She read about the Natural Health Advisory Service in a magazine article and was hugely relieved to find someone at last who really understood what she was going through. Maryon gave clear instructions on menopause self help and information about dietary changes she needed to make. As she was so desperate she followed the advice to the letter. The results were almost immediate and the symptoms fell away one by one.

‘I cannot express how grateful I am to Maryon and her team for the support I have had. I can now run my diet relatively easily and with my new found knowledge of what works for me, I can experiment with new ideas. I’ve been told that I look great and I certainly feel good. I’ve lost weight, got myself back into shape, my cravings for sweets are gone and I feel like I’m back in control. An added bonus is my libido, which was non existent, has returned completely, and my husband has made it known that he is delighted to have his wife back. I really believe that all the effort I put in is worth it and I am very pleased to have been shown how to manage my menopause.’

Lynn described herself as moody and listless. She believed her children stayed away from her at the time of the month. She had low blood pressure and often felt dizzy with a feeling in her head as if her brain were chattering away because she was constantly worried about everything and nothing. She read about the NHAS in a magazine and immediately called to arrange a telephone consultation.
